A Birthday and Pumpkins

Happy Birthday Ty!!! Ty turned the big 3-0 this weekend, although you'd never guess it. I don't think it's just my biased opinion but he doesn't look his age - he's hot as ever! Maybe these are part of the reason...

...Ty wanted the walking pads to go under his weights he just got so that was his birthday present, along with the new AC DC cd. We had a good celebration where we invited some friends over for his much desired DQ ice cream birthday cake and to play games on Fri. night.
Sat. - his actual birthday - we went on a hayride to a pumpkin patch where Ty helped us pick out the perfect pumpkins. Then we went out to eat for lunch. This weekend was also our Stake Conference so Sat. night and Sun. were full of church. We carved our pumpkins Sun. night - you'll never guess whose is whose:).

What a cute family!

Our FAMILY Vacation

About a week and a half ago, now, Ty took a couple days off work so that we could go back to Southeast Idaho to see family and hit a couple family events. Friday we got to see my brother Jason and that night we had one Grandpa's 75th birthday. We got to see every member of that side of the family there. Grandpa Bob had such a fun time and was so surprised to have a birthday party thrown for him. It was great!

Saturday we had my Grandma Marie Wheatley's (who Vanna is named after) 90th birthday party. She and my Grandpa had nine kids, who all had lots of kids themselves so there were so many cousins there (some I hadn't seen for 10 years or so). I also got to see all of my other brothers and sister and their adorable kids there. Oh how fun! The family had prepared a luncheon and program for the party that was great. My Mom had worked really hard on putting together my Grandma's life history and gave each of her brothers and sister one as well as each of us kids. It was a great tribute to my Grandma and turned out so well. I hope someday I can do the same for her - but she's so on the ball she'll probably already have it done for herself!

Our vacation also included a date! We hadn't had one of those for like 8 months. My parents watched the kids while Ty and I spent the night at the hot pools and eating ice cream. Wow - I had fogotten how nice it can be to just spend time with my handsome hubby!

Throughout the trip we also got to visit with some friends from Pocatello; we met up with Ty's parents at Sizzler to have lunch (as you can see Cash loved these get togethers); Ty went hunting and fishing; I sewed some curtains with my Mom for Vanna's room; and on our way home we took the long way through Richmond to see Ty's sister and her family and their new house.

Gosh it was just so nice to spend so much time together with our own little family, away from our regular routines and it was so nice to get to see our friends and family. What a good vacation!

Pictures!

We had Vanna's pictures taken again - (I try to get them taken every three months during that first year because they change so much so fast) - and they turned out absolutely darling! I couldn't be happier with them. And of course, I couldn't resist sharing some of them with you (sorry some didn't come in real clear).

Can you believe those pictures!!! I can't get enough! Ty's sister, Marcy, is so crafty and made Vanna this adorable tutu and matching headband for her Halloween costume. (Side note: she makes lots of other cute stuff too - check out her boutique on my link list: Lemon Drop Boutique).

We had to get pictures without a top to show how round and loveable Vanna is. Our little girl is growing up too fast - she's already six months today!

Inspiration

What a great weekend! I truly enjoyed General Conference. I really felt inspired (as always) after listening to conference. Of course it made me look inward to see what it is I need to improve on and what things I can change about my life to make myself a better, happier person and to make myself more worthy to live with my family, Savior, and Father in Heaven in eternal happiness.

I loved President Monson's talk yesterday in which he mentioned how important it was to fulfill today rather than rack up your tomorrows only to find, when looking back, that your yesterdays were empty. I'm such a planner and list maker that while I believe these attributes save me in so many ways - I sometimes miss what's really happening today. So I guess I'm officially announcing that one of my new goals is to enjoy the moment more fully and improve myself today - each day with regard to the things I know I need to be doing more of to be the best person I can be, the best companion I can be and the best mother I can be.

In addition to listening to great messages, Cash and I had a little fun while Vanna and Daddy slept through some of conference (go easy on Ty - he didn't get any sleep the night before - I guess that's what comes with being a pharmacist).
We painted our toenails...the story is that I was painting mine and Cash was upset he couldn't get his done so I thought - why not? Ty was too thrilled about it when he saw what I had done (he's just lucky we didn't do his while he was sleeping) and to be honest it wasn't my favorite thing on Cash either so...within a few hours the nail polish came off his toenails - to which Cash responded by saying "Hey!"

We also made some brownies. We have to be careful with Cash because he's like me, he'd eat all the batter before any were cooked if he we'd let him. We had a good time and the brownies were yummy. Now that was something Ty was thrilled about.

You might be wondering what's with Cash's hair...Ty thought it would be funny to slick it back and well...it's not our favorite but the kid makes anything look adorable (in my opinion).

Simple Update

We've been busy these past couple weeks and finished some of our projects (although, unfortunately I don't really have any pictures to prove it).
(1)We went to the Payette Swimming Pool (nothing like Lava's Olympic Swimming Complex but don't tell Cash:)) for the last time this year.
(2)We had a yard sale and made a good chunck of money that will help us either buy a new bedroom set or some barstools and new kitchen table...hmm...which do we want more?
(3)I finally got Vanna and Cash's scrapbooks completely up to date.
(4)We canned peaches and salsa for the first time and what an experience. I'm excited to have a little more food storage filling up our shelves...and much much more of the regular busy-ness.

My projects this next week include reorganizing and updating our 72 hr. kits and pack for our little vacation. We are simply going to my family's house for a week where we'll attend one Grandpa's 75th b-day party, attend my Grandma's 90th b-day party, visit family and friends etc. We are so ready to see everyone and are looking forward to it.
